The Unitarian Universalist Church of Ellsworth seeks a dynamic, creative, engaging religious educator who will help us develop a program for all parts of our church community. We celebrate religious education as a lifelong part of our spiritual lives, and our new commitment to an LRE position is part of a much larger revisioning and recommitting process. Eventually we hope to expand this position to full-time. Our new LRE will be well-grounded in UU principles, enthusiastic about working with people of all ages and abilities, flexible, and creative. They will work closely with the minister, the RE committee and the administrator to create programming, develop a long-range vision, and be responsive to the changing needs of the congregation. Training and coordinating RE volunteers is part of the work; recruiting them will be a shared responsibility. Presence on Sunday morning and additional office hours are required. Opportunities to participate in worship will depend on the person we hire, but some skills in leading worship are a plus, and strong organizational skills are important. This position has a pleasant, well-lit office in our 2003 RE addition and the support of talented volunteers. Successful staff here have an active sense of humor, an interest in building infrastructure, good communication skills, good boundaries, and a weakness for stellar potlucks. This is an exciting time in the life and development of this congregation, and we hope you will consider joining us in this rewarding and engaging life. The Unitarian Universalist Church of Ellsworth is committed to safer congregations compliance, diversity work, intergenerational connections, denominational participation, and continuing education and training for staff and volunteers. We are also beginning work toward Green Sanctuary certification. This position is supervised by the parish minister, and is a fair compensation position for Geo Index 2 per the UUA compensation guidelines. Position begins August 1, 2008. If you have questions, please email office@uuellsworth.org or call 207-667-4393. To apply, please send a cover letter, a CV or resume, and a history of your involvement with Unitarian Universalism to us at office@uuellsworth.org with subject line LRE-application, or by postal mail to 121 Bucksport Rd. Ellsworth, ME 04605. Applications accepted until position is filled. |
